GWB (6/2006)

Gorgie wakes up in the morning
With an upsetting surprise
Poor Barney had met his match,
With a Ford in the street last night.

He felt no sense for the time,
And he lost a feel for his skin,
He’ll always try to find,
The life that escaped him.

His parents were always saying,
Don’t let your heart go,
You’ve got a big lot to fill,
Like those that came before.

But he knows not what to do.

Today he swears a sentence,
He’ll sign mercilessly,
And don’t you try to wake him,
Can’t you see he’s thirsting.

Georgie wakes up in the evening,
Cleans the oil from his eyes,
He’s having another reverie
Where all is safe nothing dies.

He’s got no sense for the dime,
And he’s lost the feel in his skin,
He’s always trying to find,
The killer escaping him.

Today he’ll cross an ocean,
Tomorrow over a sea,
And don’t you try to wake him,
Can’t you see he’s thirsting.

Georgie wakes up to lightning,
10,000 volts cross the night,
He’s drowning in the salt mines,
Of his sons and of Barney too.

Oh God what have I done?
